Kansas Wheat Commission

Reinventing the virtual tour

Project Overview

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Kansas Wheat Innovation Center, the Kansas Wheat Commission wanted to create a virtual tour that demonstrated how the Center fulfills its mission—getting new, improved wheat varieties into the hands of farmers faster. However, the wheat breeding process is incredibly complex, and a traditional in-person tour at the Innovation Center usually takes an hour.

We needed to condense and simplify that in-person tour without sacrificing the educational experience. We decided to develop a site that broke the tour into small, manageable parts with different types of dynamic content. That way, the user could have full control over their tour experience and decide how in-depth they’d like to go. We also created a video that covered the highlights of the Innovation Center in just 9 minutes.
